Reasons for low hiring rates of Women in Canada
It has been found that the hiring rate of the women has been much less. From the research related to the labour force, it has been found that in 2014, 47.3 % of the women represented the labour force. Though it has been observed that the difference between the hiring rates of men and women has been quite low, there has been a significant difference in the rate of hiring. The employment rate for women has been found to be around 57.3 % in comparison to 65.5 % for men. Thus, the results shows that the hiring rates for women are quite low (EbraRY, 2012).
The primary reason for the low rate of hiring for women is because of the fact that the society believes that the women do not have the same physical strength in comparison to men. It is a general belief that the kind of works and the efforts which may be given by a women not be done by the men. Another reason for the low hiring of women is that the women can give lower hours to work in comparison to women. Most of the women have some or other responsibilities. Thus, they can give a fix time to work. But, in the industries it is expected that the person keeps on working for long hours. Women cannot live up to their expectations and hence they have to face neglect during the process of hiring. It is expected by the industries and firms that women are more likely to take care of their children, their parents and both. In the recent times, there have been a number of efforts to end of the motherhood gap. This is because it will help to improve the process of hiring (Finnie, 2004).
