This essay discusses the various aspects and details of Foucault’s work. Foucault broke down the barrier between the common sense about a particular object and the discourse which was held about those objects. He was architectural genius. Foucault’s vocabulary reflected his history of ideas about architecture. Foucault never built general theoretical concepts rather he believed in his commitment to specific analysis through working concepts. He had the intellect to extend the concepts of statement and dialogue from their limitation within the territory of the ideas. The ideas of Foucault were far from the conventional reality. Foucault integrated analytical practices, explanations and products of thought within the discursive field. Foucault proposed the notion of individualisation of masses which was the basis of Panopticism, an architectural concept developed by Betham. This was useful in describing the distribution of power in different landscapes. Foucault stated that space is essential in any exercise of authority to create the history of different modes by which in our ethos, the human beings are made subjects. He also proposed that any form of architecture is possible as it is produced through the pyramid of power (Hirst, 1993).
