Selection of Variables
Since market concentration has wide-ranging effect on accessibility of financing to information deficient SMEs therefore high concentration of banks will tend to more and more financing accessibility for SMEs in a given region. On the other hand, banks may too be indisposed to offer financing to SMEs deficient in information or competence etc. For that reason, the researcher will regress SMEs financing share on the calculation of market concentration for testing the net effect of banks concentration on financing SMEs in China. So the independent variable in this study will be SMEs financing share and the dependent variables will be share of small and merged banks and high share of foreign banks.
Data Collection Methods
The data will be collected in this study from various sources. The data will be collected from the SMEs in electronics and communication sectors and further small and merged banks and foreign banks. Data relating to financing SMEs in electronics and communication sectors of China will be collected through governmental and non-governmental latest reports (2009-2011) relating to these sectors. On the other hand, the data relating to small and merged banks and further foreign banks in China will be collected using the latest annual reports (2010 and 2011) of the banks.
