The most alarming fact related to Internet addiction is the lack of awareness. If we would not know we are suffering from a disease, the questions of seeking help cease to exist. So is the case of Internet addiction. People addicted to Internet are simply not aware of it. They do not deem it as compulsive disorder rather they pass it off as a mere habit. People believe that it is just the Internet they are using without realizing that it has slowly reversed and now Internet is eating up them.

In this regard I had structured interviews, which I conducted with my peers and teachers. My interview questions were targeted to reveal whether the people in general are aware of this addiction and whether they consider themselves as its victim. In the small respondents set of 10 people, ranging from age group of 15 to 45 years, I discovered that none of them were aware of anything called Internet addiction. Few agreed about making the excessive use of the internet but none considered it to be an addiction. One of the important things I deducted was that people tend to make excessive use of Internet especially when they are lonely and sad. People spend time on social sites, entertainment, sports sites and do shopping, sometimes solely to make their selves happy.
