Everybody has a kitchen but not everybody cooks. So the selection of people for this interview can be done by means of a convenience sampling where people who cook in their kitchen daily or on at least on alternative days will alone be selected. The rationale for this selection is that since they cook, they will be aware of the form of waste that will be generated.
Task and Interview Outline
The theme for which the interview is prepared is that of “Developing the recycling technology in order to recycle, renew and reuse of kitchen scraps and providing a sustainable habitat for urban environment”. For this given theme, a semi-structured interview method has been prepared in order to collect data on the same. Justification of the interview method over the survey method has been presented.
Semi-structured Interview
The semi-structured interview has been selected here. The interview process is chosen over the survey process, as the need for research her is exploratory. The researcher needs to identify what form of recycle needs the participant has. This could be conducted in a more open way in the interview method. Also the attitudinal information of the participant can also be assessed if the interview method was used. The semi structured format has been used because the interview questions although is composed as orderly set, the interviewer might need to skip questions or might need shuffle the order based on the interviewee.
