I have observed that there is a lot of emphasis given in the modern societies for the people to voice their views. This has been found to be true esp. in the case of companies. Modern organizations are thinking of methods of ensuring that the employee turnover and the employee engagement levels in the company are pretty high. To analyze this trend the aspect of communication has been considered from the past to the current times.
Favol and Taylors “Theory of scientific management” all discuss in detail about how the employers dictate the tasks to the employees. Employee is expected to perform according to the needs of the employers. Employee is not allowed any arena to voice their view. There were definitive hierarchies and protocols in this system. People who were in the different classes mandated works to the other people in the company. In this situation it becomes an issue for the employee. They feel that their voices are not heard and there are high levels of employee disengagement in the companies (Isaacs, 1999). Modern companies have been giving importance to enhance employee engagement, as it would reduce the employee turnover and increase the productivity of the employee. It has been found across the world there is importance given to the employee’s voices of the company. Effective organizational communication leads to 33% increase in the productivity of the meeting and also increases the overall function of the companies. It has been found to be beneficial for the companies. This dialogues model of communication is found to be true esp. in the case of virtual meetings. In the virtual meetings it has been found that the companies fundamentally allow people from across the spectrum to discuss about the particular objectives of the company. In this scenario the only way the companies can achieve maximum productivity is ensuring that they have a plausible and efficient communication model.
Personally I will not work in a company where my voice is not heard. I believe that all the people in the company should be given an arena to voice their views. Effectiveness will improve only if there is a mixture of the different opinions in the societies. To conclude, to employee engagement is important for a company. Companies in the modern times should have an effective strategy of employee engagement this will allow the employees to grow and also prevent employee turnover.
