With the ability of perceiving these emerging risks, the company has managed to formulate strategies to mitigate these risks even before their occurrence (McNeil et al., 2015). Moreover, the company has been able to prioritize these emerging risks, further strengthening the insurance over it. This organization has developed a framework to perceive the risks, and it is referred as systematic observation of notions that are associated with the risk (SONAR). This framework is organization wide design in order to communicate the risks which are emerging and manage them. This framework is embedded within the risk management organization of the group.
The framework of SONAR enables the organization to identify the risks through perceiving, assessing the perceived risks and reporting the perceived risks that might emerge in a timely fashion to further consider them as factor within their decisions (Sargeant et al., 2016). This process includes two primary steps. Initially, the intranet platform of interactive nature is employed that enabled the workforce to discuss and share the notions of risk over all primary area of the landscape of merging risk in easy and quick way for staying up to date on the latest developments. Secondly, the specialists of emerging risk timely clusters and assess the notions of risk further to study the potential of the impact they will have over businesses.
The emerging risks are perceived by the group of Swiss Re as risks which are either changing or recently developing that are difficult to be quantified and that might possess a potential impact over any company or sector. These risks are investigated and perceived to define them as emerging risks due to the substantial potentiality of the impact they hold on the group’s business itself.
The key drivers of the evolving landscape of risk involves new developments in areas of economy, technology, socio-politics and environment along with increasing interdependence among the risks itself that can result to growing risk accumulation (Wachinger et al., 2013). Moreover, the changes that take place within the environment of the business are to be considered: continuous evolution of regulatory and liability regimes and strengthening expectations of the stakeholder along and shift in the perception of risk. The key lies in reduction of the uncertainty and therefore assisting in volatility diminishment of organizational results.
