According to researchers the variety of contradiction among the partners is substantial; according to them the dialectic contradiction should be appreciated in order to give a good shape to the relationship. Through various surveys it is observed that the dialectic processes have been observed in almost every kind of relationship. The various examples of relationships where the dialectic processes have been observed includes partners who are dating each other, the divorced partners, the relationships among the employees of an organization, married couples in which one partner do have some mental or psychological issue, parent-child relation, step family etc. (Stephenson & Holman, 2012). The contradiction among the members varies depending on the culture also. For example the relationships in collectivism societies are not supported by the ideology of individualism; this is the reason why the separation-integration contradiction is experienced in completely different way in collectivist society.
