Poor housing for the aborigines in Edmonton has been a major cause of concern since a long time. The people who belong to this race have been facing the similar issues for a long time. There are a number of reasons for the same. Firstly, the number of homes which are provided to these people by aboriginal affairs are very less in numbers than the actual requirement. In comparison to the number of aborigine families the number of houses which are provided to them are very few. In the recent times it has been found that the populations of the aborigine in the city has significantly increase. The increasing population isn’t being complemented with the number of houses available (Laboucane-Benson, et al., 2010). This is leading to a wide scarcity in the availability of the houses for these people.
Secondly, the housing which has been provided to them is not good quality housing. The kind of housing which has been provided to these people leads to the prolonged health issues. The homes has been created in such areas where the health issues are significant. The areas are dirty and have poor sanitation and other facilities. It is often observed that these people suffer from a number of disorders such as respiratory tract infections, skin infections and a number of other disorders ( Wien, et al., 2009)
Thirdly, in the recent times the living cost in the rural areas near to the Edmonton has increased to a large amount. Due to this, a large number of people have migrated from nearby areas to Edmonton in search of better living and working opportunities. Consequently, this further increases the issue of lack of proper homes. Instead of this, it leads to the increase in their poor life, couch-surfing and homelessness.
