Whether a multinational firm is expanding abroad with the aim to exploit its present resources or for exploiting new resources, operations in a subsidiary and its consequent success to manage these operations remain encumbered through inter-temporal and cross national institutional environment variation (Ohmae, 2010). As defined here, the institutional environment is inclusive of political institutions such as the policy making national structure, regulating and adjudicating, economic institutes such as the national factor markets structure and the terms to access production international factors and institutions of socio-culture such as norms of informal nature. Research evaluating the link between such varied components of an institutional environment in a nation and multinational strategies for entry has focused over response of multinationals to the hazards and opportunities varying level presented through potential host country institutional environment (Ramamurti et al., 2009). For successfully deploying the resources in the host nation, multinational organizations such as “Whenever” should identify and contend with several differences between the markets of home nation and host nation that is US and UK. The institutional factors influencing the company within US are discussed here briefly.
Political Factors: To enhance the footprint of the company within California with regard to public opposition expansion, the strategy used by the company was controversial (Richards, 2010). As per a recent report on the company, the company has significantly heightened their contribution politically. Report stated that the company has spent much over its local projects and more in federal based elections as well. The political factor influences the company negatively as well with regard to sales as well as profits due to governments have the ability of changing the regulations and rules at any time. This influences the company directly (Pudelko et al., 2007). There are various issues which are difficult for being controlled through the company such as work authority, issues of health, war against geo-political uncertainties. These issues can influence the company and has been doing so within the country.
Economic factors: Purchase power is dependent over the economic conditions across the world. The company’s management depicts that this factors influences the company with regard to human resource acquisition and financial performance which both can be deteriorating for the company when not sustained. Higher fuel price in the nation, cost of energy at higher rate and higher rate of interest as well as inflation and weak markets for housing, rate of unemployment, high debt and tax law changes are all such factors which influence demand of customers for products and services that sell through stores of this company (Richards, 2010). Other factors are inclusive of high cost of transportation, foreign exchange fluctuation rate, insurance and health care and other factors of economic relations can enhance the cost of administrative expense and harm can be inflicted over the operations of the company. Therefore, the nation has made plans on increasing grocery stores number for raising the sale in the nation and outside as well got getting higher returns from them so as to leverage the assets of capital.
