Evidence Based Practice in Medicine
Evidence based practice that was emerged during the end of twentieth century, proliferated in the 21st century worldwide associating various health and human services with clinical research inquiry in terms of family treatment centers and medical/mental health centers (Roberts & Yeager, 2004). Medicine is considered and accepted as the leading discipline in the application of evidence based practice. Evidence based medicine is most significantly defined by Sacket, Rosernber, Gray et al., (1996), who expressed it as the conscientious, judicious and explicit use of current best evidence in decision making process concerned with the best care of patients. Proctor and Rosen (2004) have suggested evidence based practice as an extension of evidence based medicine that consists of three assertions:
• Empirical and research based intervention decisions;
• Critically assessing interventions supported empirically in order to find out best fit and appropriateness for the practice situation at hand;
• Treatment period must be frequently monitored and revised on the basis of outcome evaluation
