This case study is based upon Levi and how it has closed many of its planets along with the purpose of closing it. In this case, three plants have been discussed which have been closed in different parts of the world. The first plant was on South Zarzamora Street which was initially bought by Levi and later it was closed because Levi believed that the employees there were charging a high rate and it would be much more affordable to make the cloths in other plants as the labour was much cheaper. The second plant was shut down in China because the contractor was paying employees’ way below the minimum wage rate and so it was against Levi’s policy and the plant was shut down. The third plant was closed in Bangladesh as it found out that the plant had employed a lot of children to do the job and it was against the policy of Levi and so it was also closed.
However, Levi provided the employees with a lot of benefits. In South Zarzamora, a notice was given to the employees seven months before shutting it down and a lot of cash was also issued to them so that they could educate themselves and work other jobs as well. In Bangladesh, Levi paid the children to go to school and promised to give them a job at the plant when they turned 14. These actions of Levi were praised by people all over the world.
