Practices of Monsanto have devalued seed on a global level. This is because farmers have issues with using genetically modified seeds versus using conventional and older seed varieties. The genetic diversity of crops are in fact destroying the farming practices. This had lead to farmers rejected seeds from companies like Monsanto, other companies that are involved in the global market for this particular good are also taking a fall because of the changed behavior of the farmer. This influence is directly attributed to Monsanto. [1] In addition, it can also be seen that in some countries there is a over hiked seed price. Seed prices in a normal market will be balanced by the demand that is generated locally. However, seed prices in a global market will rise to meet the demand generated on an international level. Here it is seen that Monsanto and other companies are monopolizing the seed industry to a larger part and hence have more power than the buyers have. Where one company has a greater supplier power then that company will have more flexibility when it comes to pricing issues and more. Monsanto therefore has greater flexibility in pricing. The price that it sets is accepted by most countries. However, there are some nations where farmers cannot afford the prices set by Monsanto. Since Monsanto has lead to an effective decline in the seed manufactory of local competitors, the famers do not have anywhere else to go and buy seeds.
