In the modern age of science and technology, there is indeed a vast scope of improving the life of human. Though, it is fact that every cause has some effects on others. Unfortunately, the use of technology has some disadvantages, which are inherently associated. Talking about disadvantages means the hazardous effects of technology on human life. Though technology has solved numerous problems for the people, it has also created different disease problems for the modern world. It has become an important duty for the scientist and researchers to handle this issue; sorting out what kind of calculation is to be done, what kind of simulation is to be analysed and which type of material is to be selected whether it’s going to suit the people or not. Yes, it is an enormous responsibility on the shoulders of producers to ensure the quality of life.
Research work is going on to find alternatives of dental restoration. It is a matter of fact that the alternative material should not be harmful to the health of patient and it should be environmental friendly. Many materials have been introduced as alternatives like Composite resin, thin film coated resin andNano fillers satisfy all the required demands of modern sciences. However, it is a different issue that which material should be given the first priority, and this has become a burning subject of research nowadays. The other important thing to consider is what would be the cost of such alternative materials? How much the dental treatment will be going to cost? It is true that it will cost more than Amalgam treatment and it would become difficult for the people of low resource to afford. To solve this issue, WHO should play its role to introduce some schemes and programs for the poor people, and try to keep down the economics of the dental restoration process.

The Selection of mercury in the filling is made as it provides strength and durability. And it is also used in other medical measuring instruments like thermometer. Beside a few good property of this material, it is pretty dangerous to use. If anyone breathes mercury vapour by mistake, it would result in malfunctioning of lungs and may damage other essential organs of body like kidney and brain. Symptoms for mercury poison are cough, skin rashes, high body temperature, and memory loss and strain while walking. (Bose-O’Reilly, 2010).
Over the passage of time, there has been some awareness programs started focusing on the counterpart of amalgam use. The availability of mercury amalgam is also dangerous for the environment and it can contribute drastically in destroying marine life. In the dental services, there is a rise in interest of using an alternative way to cope with the dentistry issue and getting rid of Amalgam. Many countries have imposed a ban on the use of amalgam in dental field. Many European countries don’t allow their Dentist to operate pregnant women with the Amalgam as they correlate that some of mercury contaminants are transferred to the infant via breast milk (Hujoel PP, 2005). However, in few developed countries, they are still using amalgam in dental restoration. The reason for that is low cost as compare to the other alternatives present right now.
The burning question which is to be addressed by the concerned authorities’ i.e. whether to continue the use of mercury amalgam or look for any other alternate material? Whether to comprise on health or wealth? Would people look for the alternate or directly take out their teeth as a discomfort? These are very crucial questions that should be answered. The shift in material sciences is taken place from amalgam towards alternative material that contains Resin based composite materials. While shifting to the new alternatives, the producers should keep the sustainability of these alternative very high. Otherwise it would not be a good idea.
