Political rhetoric has been regarded as something that has been considered as those strategies that would help in constructing the persuasive argument. It is true both in case of formal debates and daily political disputes. Therefore, it has been often regarded that the topic of political rhetoric touches the fundamental activities that are the part of the democratic politics (Condor, Tileaga and Billig, 2013). Załęska (2011) believes that both rhetoric and politics have a heterogeneous area, in the research that is carried out. It is because neither the rhetoric nor could the politics provide a straightforward answer to anything.
According to Condor, Tileaga and Billig (2013), in both social and political psychology, there is an interest towards using the rhetoric in order to “turn the language”. The process, thus, involved the rejection of Cognitivism. On the contrary, there is a commitment towards approaching talks and texts as something that is equivalent to strategic communicative action and not as an expression for the inner psychological process. The political rhetoric does not only give any importance to the psychological traits, rather, as Załęska (2011) is of the opinion that this particular area called “politics” takes into consideration the free people who articulate something publicly in order to fulfil their competing interest.
It is true that rhetoric has often been regarded as something that both distrusted and deceptive by nature. Therefore, here I choose the sentence one for my research because this particular sentence in this case reveals how the political rhetoric is used by the American President Donald Trump, in order to attack and mock not only the prior Presidents of America but also the media in America as well. The sentence used here show that how the rhetoric used by Donald Trump actually had harmed the moral character of the children and had misled the young crowd also, and this has actually taken place with the use of words such as “Fakes media, Fake news” (Time.com. 2017).
