USTraining and development: Another major area of human resource management practice is training and development which is caused by collectivism values. a) Job security: Research by Blunt (1983), Jones (1986) and Leonard (1991) reveals that in collectivist countries employees are concerned on security of job at the workplace which is very necessary. b) Collectivism: Hofstede (1984) declares that in collectivism countries employees expect organizations to view after them like a member of the family. They expect the organizations to protect their belief in group decisions, personal interests and promotion and hiring decisions are based on seniority, which takes the in group employees’ into account. The employees revels their emotional dependence on institutions and organizations. Hodgetts and Luthans et al (1993) predict that the compensation strategies of employees’ are influenced by family requirements and seniority. Several perspectives similar to collectivism and individualism as represented by different researchers are practices of hiring, community relationships, training, employee security and performance appraisal (Kaloki, 2001; Blunt, 1983).
