For instance, if a hyper active and intense mother finds her child to be calm and slow then she will feel disappointed and chances are there that she will also feel that her child is sick though the child is absolutely fine. If she does not check her behaviour with the child’s temperament then she will over excite her child. It will impact his/her social behaviour in later years to come and will increase the danger of negatively impacting his/her attachment with his/her mother . Emotional reaction of a child to stressful situations are a vital issue that parents must look after especially during the early childhood days as it has got immense impact on the later life of an individual . It can be stated here that “stress” does not actually means a troubled or worried state of mind but it is the physical responses of a human being to a negative situation. Especially when he/she perceives the situation to be threatening or demanding his/her bodies counter a number of chemical reactions which includes increasing heart rate metabolism and blood pressure . These forms of temporary adjustments assist us to adjust to our surrounding and survive. However such situations if recurs very frequently will lead to chronic ailments and create situations that will bother us life-long.
It is stated that well-tuned stresses are good for a child’s early mental and physical development. Extreme cases of stressful situations impair their development both emotional as well as behavioural. Its consequences are not good for our society. Extreme stresses weaken a child’s self-esteem completely which have valour impact on his/her social interactions during adulthood. It has been pointed out by many psychologists that certain diseases that happen in the adulthood have their roots in the childhood days, especially if a child is exposed to extreme stress for a very long period of time. Sroufe (2001) pointed out that children who have insecure attachments are emotionally disturbed cannot handle stress and chances of developing low level of self-esteem in their adulthood become high. It is highly recommended that parents must provide stress free and secure attachments to their children so that a child has stable adolescence and adulthood emotionally.
It can be stated here that all the four factors are related to one another in some way or the others and have immense impact in shaping a child’s social development.
