The design function adopted by Zara comes in a relatively different fashion, the design takes feed from three separate functions; the designers, the market expert and the buyers who place orders onto suppliers. In each of their production facility the designer and market specialist works together for the development of a new product. This team works in constant collaboration with the retail store, which gives them the knowledge of what the customer needs and how they want the product to be. This unconventional collaboration of team makes Zara’s supply chain system apart from the other retailers that practiced upon the conventional techniques.
Most of the manufacturing facilities around the globe are owned by Zara. This ownership facility enables them with the shortest possible lead times from display to store. The majority of the products are produced within the Zara’s owned factories and the raw material comes from the Zara’s owned suppliers therefore, it gives them an edge over other retailers to produce at a speed they want.
