Environmental issues across the globe are becoming an emerging concept for debate because of awareness amongst the people related to the environmental issues. Governments are trying their best to ensure steps that can conserve environment. Recent step of Britain government to introduce budgetary cuts related to the environment comes under great criticism. Independent organizations that act as watch dog for government’s environmental related issues protest against this government’s step. It was the time when Britain deficit was at the highest level in its peace time history. Government borrowed one pound for every four pound it spent (Anon., 2010). The coalition government criticized previous labor government for this situation. According to the spending review of the British government is spending currently £ 43 billion on the debt interest which is more then it spends on school (Anon., 2010).
In the budget due to the weak economic situation in the country and high ratio of the money spending on the debt returns government decided to decrease the budget allocated to the different governmental departments. In order to decrease the government deficit and retain the level of economic stability, it is necessary to control department expense and prioritize the projects to get the maximum benefit from the government investments. Government decided to priorities the expense on the projects in the departments of education and NHS. In this budget, government decided to reduce the budgets of all departments except health department and overseas aid department. The cut in the budget will be 19 % over the time period of four years (Flynn, 2007).
