Open learning is obtaining more and more importance as a tool for imparting management education. So why is the mode of education becoming so popular? Different people will come up with different point.
One of the first advantages of open learning that is quoted by practitioners is that it is quite flexible. The study can be fitted to one’s lifestyle. Also, anonymity is said to be ensured in open learning which is a boon for many learning who do not want to be “shown up” in classroom. Also, the practitioners feel that the learning is greatly customizable and thus there is significant input from the learners side. Also, open learning has projects where collaboration with other people from the organization such as managers is required. Thus the learning can be brought into the organization in a much more streamlined way when compared to other methods such as conventional delivery in an offsite room (Billsberry 2000).
